Welcome to the Open Source Education Foundation Website

The Open Source Education Foundation (OSEF) was founded on the idea that technology in education should prepare students to excel with technology. It is the role of educators to help students become productive members of society. OSEF will research and develop the tools required to ensure that educators and students alike have the information needed to succeed in our technological society.

* OSEF is pleased to announce The Free Curricula License *
We are very excited about The Free Curricula License. It represents many of the ideas we have about extending Open Source Ideology into the classroom. The initial public version was written by Christopher Hornbaker with the input of many OSEF and Schoolforge members. Please read it over and check out the initial FAQ.

GOVIA is Ostensible Video, Imagery and Audio
There are some great free (as in liberty) resources out there for teachers; Project Gutenberg, Nupedia, Wikipedia and many others. These are all wonderful because they are free to use, modify, and build upon with out having to worry if you are breaking the law by making a copy for each of the 30 student in your class. These are all almost entirely text based content, there needs to be similar resources for media. This is where GOVIA fits in
